Dynaflow® Brazing Alloy HARRIS

Dynaflow® is a popular brazing filler metal commonly used for copper brazing applications. The phosphorus content allows the alloy to act as self-fluxing on copper, eliminating the need for separate flux in copper-to-copper joints. Its wide melting range allows operators to cap or build up around finished joints while still penetrating tight connections when heated above its liquidus temperature.

Dynaflow® is also suitable for brazing brass components, although operators should avoid overheating and use Stay Silv® white brazing flux to ensure proper joint formation. It is widely used in HVAC and refrigeration installations due to its dependable joint strength and performance.

Because of its copper joint strength and melting characteristics, Dynaflow® often serves as a lower-cost alternative to higher silver content brazing alloys. However, it is not recommended for steel or other ferrous base metals since phosphorus can form brittle compounds with these materials.

FAQs

Is Dynaflow® self-fluxing?
Yes, it is self-fluxing when used on copper-to-copper joints.

Can it be used for brass brazing?
Yes, but proper flux such as Stay Silv® white brazing flux should be used and overheating avoided.

Can it be used on steel components?
No, phosphorus in the alloy forms brittle compounds with ferrous metals.

Why is it used in HVAC systems?
It provides strong joints and reliable performance at a lower cost compared to higher silver alloys.
